   
Duffman Costumes
Duffman may not be the most sought after Simpson character, he however,
certainly is one of the most recognizable ones, thanks to the famous Duffman costume. What makes this costume stand
out is the Duff beer belt without which the costume would look like any other Superman costume.
The costume consists of two main parts: the famous beer belt and the rest of
the costume. The duff beer belt is simple and easy to make: first of all get about eight to ten soda or beer cans.
Open the cans slightly, enough to let the air pressure out but be careful not to open the cans fully. Then drill a
hole at the bottom of the can and empty out the soda. Fill up the bottom of the can with an insulating foam
sealant, but make sure not to overfill the can, because foam expands. Then spray paint the cans red and paste Duff
beer labels onto the can. You can draw one copy of the Duff logo and get colored copies of the same or you can
choose to do the same through a computer art program and get print outs of the same. For the belt, either use a
luggage strap or a normal belt, and adjust it according to your waist requirements. Make sure to paint the belt red
too. Then affix the cans onto the belt about 2-3 inches apart using glue or use glue straps to hold the cans in
place. Once this is done let it dry for about 3-4 hours and you have your very own Duff Beer Belt. If you have used
a belt, make sure to wear the belt with the buckle at the back since Duffman's belt shows nothing but beer cans in
the front.
Once the beer belt is ready, the major part of the costume is done and you
can now start working on the rest of the Duffman costume. Get a blue T-shirt and remove the sleeves or use a blue
compression shirt. Print another Duff logo almost twice the size used for the cans and paste it on to the front of
the shirt. You might want to use screen-printing sheets which work better on shirts. Team it up with a pair of blue
sweat pants or compression pants and get of a pair of red bikini briefs to wear over your sweat pants. White briefs
dyed red, could also do the trick. Then take a red cap (preferably a baseball cap) and paste another Duff logo on
the cap (again, you could use screen-printing sheets for the logo, to yield better results).Next for the boots, you
can use a pair of rubber rain boots, and spray paint the boots white or use white shoe polish instead. Do the same
with a pair of rubber/latex gloves. Finish the Duffman costume with a red cape - you could either buy one, or could
make one at home by cutting one out of a red rectangular piece of cloth. Stitch the narrow end of the cape to the
T-shirt and paste another Duff logo onto the cape. Finally don a pair of very dark sunglasses to complete the
Duffman look.
